Giving back can change lives in ways we often don’t expect. For Mandela Day, we dedicated 67 Minutes of Mandela Day to a simple but powerful act: donating blankets to children at Orlando Children’s Home. This small gesture brought warmth and comfort to many young lives, showing how a brief moment of kindness can leave a lasting impression.

Why 67 Minutes Matter

Mandela Day encourages everyone to spend 67 minutes doing something positive for others. The number 67 represents the 67 years Nelson Mandela dedicated to fighting for justice and equality. When we chose to donate blankets, we knew it was more than just giving material items. It was about showing care and support to children who face daily challenges.

Blankets provide more than warmth; they offer a sense of security and comfort. For children at Orlando Children’s Home, many of whom come from difficult backgrounds, this small gift can brighten their day and remind them they are not forgotten.

How You Can Make a Difference

If you’re considering how to contribute during Mandela Day or any time, donating blankets is a practical and impactful way to help especially since it is winter time. Here are some tips based on our experience:

  • Choose quality blankets that provide warmth and comfort.

  • Coordinate with local children’s homes or shelters to understand their specific needs.

  • Involve your community or workplace to gather more donations and spread awareness.

  • Make it personal by spending time with the children or staff, showing that your support goes beyond the material gift.
